9:00am Opening & Anchor Frameworks
We will begin by orienting to the day, building connections among workshop participants, and framing out guiding principles that will anchor the workshop and learning.
9:45am Hiring
By looking at some considerations around hiring practices and examples of things to consider, participants will have the opportunity to examine their own hiring practices and look for ways to leverage the recruitment and selection process to set up new employees for success before day one on the job.
10:30am Break
10:45am Early Support
Through both presentational content and discussion, we’ll explore how to leverage the months before the start of school to set new faculty up for a smooth entry to the school year and set the foundation for belonging and thriving. Participants will assess current practices and begin developing actionable steps to improve practices.
11:30am New Faculty Orientation
We’ll discuss ways to deepen the start-of-school orientation process to better connect with school values and practices and provide high-priority and timely information and experiences to educators preparing to teach in the school community. Participants use what’s learned to begin planning their August sessions.
12:15pm Lunch
1:00pm Ongoing Support
Finally, we’ll look into ways to proactively support teachers and ensure sustained thriving through on-going support and mentorship throughout the year (and beyond). Participants will consider ways to enhance their current practices.
1:45pm Resources and Work Time
In addition to the presented concepts and sharings from peers, participants will have access to templates and resources that might inform specific plans. Time and support will be provided for participants to collaborate and make significant progress on their own school-specific plans.
2:30pm Review, Reflect, and Wrap
We’ll close with a sharing of developed plans and insights, as well as reflections on what was learned and what’s ahead.
