Join TAIS

TAIS is proud to support a network of the most distinguished independent schools across Tennessee and northern Mississippi. For over 50 years, we’ve championed excellence in independent education—bringing together schools with strong academic programs; moral and ethically developed leaders, faculty, and students; and a shared commitment to human flourishing.

Our Member Schools reflect a wide range of missions and models, including boarding schools, single-gender institutions, faith-based communities, and progressive approaches to teaching and learning. While each school is unique, all meet the high standards of governance, formal accreditation, and a demonstrated commitment to educational excellence.

How to Apply

Membership begins with a brief application from a Head of School or leadership team member. After receiving your application, TAIS staff will schedule an introductory call to learn more about your school, discuss membership, and answer questions. The process continues with a site visit. The TAIS Executive Director and a TAIS Board Member will have conversations with the Head of School and other key leaders. Final approval is then determined by the TAIS Board of Directors.
