Kathleen Lanza (2012)

Kathy Lanza was appointed Head of St. Peter's Episcopal School in 1985.  Under her leadership, St. Peter's firmly established itself as one of the best independent elementary schools in the Chattanooga area.

An innovative instructional leader, she implemented and vigorously promoted a highly integrative and hands-on educational program that incorporates both E. D. Hirsh's Core Knowledge curriculum and the arts.  In 2011, St. Peter's was recognized as one of the top 100 schools in the nation for implementing health-oriented components such as additional exercis, a school garden, and healthy meals and snacks to the school's educational program.

Kathy Lanze retired as Head of School in 2013.  Her passion, dedication and leadership have not only benefitted her own school,b ut through her exampe they have helped to make independent school educaiton better.
